Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint Reveal - Day 2

Yesterday we promised to reveal a new Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint colour each day of this week.  Today's feature highlights two colours that we feel say a lot about the remarkable yet humble young woman behind the product.

Every once in a while someone comes along that grabs the imagination of many and inspires people to dream. Marian Parsons, aka Miss Mustard Seed has done just that for home decor DIYers across North America.  As a person who works hard toward their goals and represents so many of us working toward ours it is fun to watch her achievements, in part because it allows us to believe it could happen for us too.

The support for Miss Mustard Seed to succeed is immense, and so when Canadian paint company Homestead House offered Marian the opportunity to create a designer line of milk paints we all cheered and felt a certain pride that one of us met with a milestone, checking a box on their list of dreams.

In a world of home decor and design shows blasting our hair back with perfection 24 hours a day, Marian is a refreshing change, sharing her projects and ideas while giving equal billing to successes and misteps. When working to develop her yellow shade, she stated that, "It’s sort of a warm honey, muted mustard color.  I started out with a stronger yellow, but it looked more like school bus than mustard seed, so I had to go back to the drawing (mixing) board ..."

She worked hard to get a hue she loved and then described it as so many of us might define the designer herself:"strong, but not too in-your-face".  What better name than "Mustard Seed Yellow"?

True to form, Marian gives credit where credit is due and doesn't shy away from sharing the accolades.   In her personal homage to the antique store in Leesburg, Virginia where she has found success as a seller of her creative pieces and that she describes as "one of my favorite places on earth and I am privileged to be a vendor there", this perfect green milk paint colour reminds her of the vintage wood siding on The Old Lucketts Store.

As a retailer of Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint, we appreciate all of the time and effort being made in the development of 'just the right colours" and look forward to being a part of the creative community we know will love this paint.

As DIYers and admirers, we thank Marian for her vision and inspiration.
